The tavern Fluegelrad, more than 130 years old, had been closed for some time when a few years ago three Olten personalities – two writers and a journalist – bought and rebuilt it. Ever since it has been reopened this restaurant has become a popular place for lovers of hearty cuisine. As you would expect from such a restaurant, it is neither an elegant nor a trendy place. It is simply furnished and its atmosphere is rustic. Nevertheless, you feel comfortable there, whether you are a white or a blue collar worker. I have now eaten in this small friendly eatery four times and have consistently been greeted with great food and service. Always a warm welcome no matter the hour and advice for those not familiar with the menu. The homemade food is tasty and in good portions. Much better value than the bigger restaurants in town and deserves to be much higher than number 13 in Olten. If you're staying here it is well worth a visit for dinner.

Zwei Besuche mit Freunden im September zusammengefasst.Vorspeise: Salat mit paniertem Poulet. Hauptspeise: Gordon-Blue und gebackenen Weichkäse auf Blattsalat.Service war immer sehr gut und einfach zauberhaft.Toiletten sauber und Ambiente gemütlich, aber beizmässig. Alle Speisen waren hervorragend, frisch und sehr fein.Empfehlung 1: Gordon Blue Empfehlung 2: Tagesangebot (vor allem das Zweierlei vom Piemonteser Rind)

The Flugelrad restaurant is ideally located in the middle of Switzerland at the Olten train station behind Geleis 12 . We are people who come from different regions of Switzerland to meet there to have lunch together. Only one meal is served at lunchtime, so there are no problems with choosing!

There are the best cordon bleu and they are very nice.
