Drove around Languedoc and although there is so much potential with beautiful scenery, the buildings are generally not well maintained on the outside, even Lagrasse, who holds an award to be one of the most beautiful city in France, was a fucking visit with nothing to write at home. The locals I found friendly enough, but not well dressed in general. But shame seemed poorer than it is! I love beautiful architecture and France really doesn't make the best of the stunning buildings they have, let them go lost under the majority of simple and worn. Amazing food and drink are the back of this country, known for raising some of the largest chefs the pastries, fine food and champagne and wine are...

Le Commerce has no restaurant license (these are strictly regulated in France). So it's about alcohol sales. The local Brits represent a large percentage of their seasonal sales, so you would think that it is in a covid era at the end of the season after its Brit customer. You'd be wrong. During my visit this evening a quiet Saturday evening I experienced numerous situations where English voice speakers (most try French) were ignored when ordering drinks. While I originally thought this was simply ignorance by a new waitress, numerous complaints to the owners did not improve.

During my many visits in Limoux we often spend time in Le Commerce. It's a bar not a restaurant. We have always received a great greeting from the males and their young staff and whether we are sitting outside in summer sunlight drinking blanquette or having a beer in winter, it is a good place to go. If you enjoy Rugby, go here during the six nations as the games are shown live.
