Galo's Italian Grill

Surprising. On the way back to Indy from Columbus we tried a place outside of the mall in Richmond that we had not noticed before. My husband and I were totally surprised with the interior, the menu, and the service. After having been exiled to Indiana (aka the western front) from Pennsylvania about thirty years ago, I had resigned myself to horrible, Midwest tasteless food unless I headed for Chicago. The ambience and menu were quite good, service was good, and flexibility for altering menu choices was more than acceptable much better than what I have experienced in a lot of Indy restaurants. Nice surprise in Richmond. I was more then pleasantly surprised at the quality of food at this restaurant in Richmond, IN. It rivals the finer Italian restaurants I have dined at in downtown Indy and Cinti. A very nice ambiance, good service and good selection on the menu. The only negative, if you can call it that, is that the wine list was low to mid grade w/ Kendall Jackson being the most expensive on the list, but again, not bad for a smaller city. It is a toss up between Galo's and the Olde Richmond House (Inn? for best in town and I don't think that there is a close third.

We have been here with and without kids several times and have enjoyed every experience! The food is always great, the staff has always been friendly, professional and attentive and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We love supporting a high quality local place! Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

We came to Richmond for the antique show and fortunately asked a local for a nice place to eat where the locals go. He suggested Galo's. We were able to share. Salad was cold and crisp. Veal was nice and we had a wonderful Tarimasu dessert.

Great place, great food. He tried this place for mothers day, it was great. My favorite is the free bread they bring. Everything we ordered looked great. The prices were good. Great customer service. I'll keep this place on my list.
