Gasthaus zum Unterstoa

A lively restaurant with a large number of tables outside. We chose this for our last evening in Bavaria and were pleased to see a few tables free when we arrived, s we moved towards one of them a waitress (from her age demeanor...one of the more senior employees) stood in front of us, and, without saying anything wagged her finger at us. Were they reserved? Who knows? A less comfortable table at the side was pointed out, so we took that. The food was pretty good (but unremarkable), and did arrive quickly. worst feeling ever. I'm usually calm, this time I almost lost my mind. I was at the ransom to become physically aggressive 1 hour 15 minutes we wait for the food, and after an hour 15 comes the waitress to say they don't have what. I order more. after an hour 15 minutes it is unbearable. then I took something else and that was hardly right, nothing special. not enough meat, not enough food. I've never been so frustrated. I never go there again. it was one of the worst times I had in a restaurant in my life, and I'm 40 years old.

Whether we are at the Unterstoa for just a drink, a meal or one of their marvellous Heimatbende, we always have a good time. The food is very tasty, well cooked and reasonably priced and there are lots of waiting staff in attendance. In the...summer, there is a beer garden with Bavarian music some nights. Once a week, the Bayerische Heimatabend or Bavarian folk evening is held in the large hall, where you again can eat and drink whilst watching the Bavarian dancing.

We had a very tasty and reasonable meal here. The service was reasonably quick and the beer and salads were good. The children's meals were huge! There was a shaded play area for the children with lots of toys and it was good value. The...reason I have only awarded three stars is that the owner was very negative towards our children and scolded us when our children had a minor spat. It really took the shine off the experience as our children were not badly behaved.

during our holiday we ate more than any other place. the food was excellent (we seem to have worked our way through the menu) the beer flloss easy (berchestgarden hofbrauhaus) but my gott! the imperial shmarrn. the imperial marrn was a joy. it would get five stars for that alone. but. go there when d’funtenseer’s local dance group) - we had the best time we ever had on vacation. it was a hoot! fantastic! the beer helped, but everyone had a ball!
