General Stanton Inn

I saw an advertisement for this restaurant and was intrigued ! The pictures look so charming and inviting ! It was my birthday so we made a reservation and did mention this information . When we arrived we were greeted rather coldly mentioned the reservation were seated at a table for 2 in the middle of a long banquet not at all what we we’re expecting . The room was very bright , too bright (as my husband who never ever complains can attest to )loud and cold . It took awhile for waitress to come over but we could see she was busy. She brought us drinks took and took our order. Soon after a party of 2 was seated right next to us at a table for 4 much roomier than ours. Across the restaurant...

Absolutely lovely spot, so happy there’s a go to new full service nice restaurant in the area! Definitely needed. Location, decor, ambience, greeting and service were top notch. Our dinners were very nice, nicely prepared and high quality. I gave the food 4, not 5, as it’s not quite gourmet-yet. Chicken Milanese was nicely prepared with high quality fresh ingredients, however the dressing/sauce could have been a little more special to take it to a 5. French onion soup and wedge salad were also very good!

We really enjoyed our diner of the beef short ribs and Portuguese cod. The beef portion was huge and had no bone. The beef flavor was deep and paired well with the mashed potatoes and broccoli. The cod had very good flavor, but the chorizo was sparse. Lauren, our server, was very attentive without pestering us. We would definitely return for a special occasion because there were other options on the menu that we'd like to try!

Tavern was beautiful, cozy and lovely. The Prime Rib was excellent as well as the salads. Server was terrific. We will be there frequently and look forward to dining in the Narragansett Room. The restoration of General Stanton Inn is breathtaking.

It was our first visit and we will definitely return. It was beautiful, gorgeous fireplace and great lighting. We enjoyed the service and our meals were spectacular. We would highly recommend the Inn.
