While the ‘star’ rating concept has been a nostalgic way of ascertaining certain expectations of hotels and/or accommodations, more than often it is a price versus expectance skirmish. Unfortunately, it is increasingly more often that the expectations side loses. Simply said: a high price does not guarantee a fulfillment of expectations. I was about to met a friend I haven't seen in 10 years in the favorite place of my sister and her husband, the Goldstück in Recklinghausen, Germany. My sister told me much about this place but when I walked in I was a bit disappointed. I knew it was small, but this small...? The friendly welcome quickly blew the fist disappointment away. The nice and tasteful interior of the bar make you feel at home rather quick. Warm light throughout the bar, never too dark. The menu is not too extensive but all items seem carefully selected and everything seems to be something special. Incredible Gin Tonics and/or other Cocktails. Owner and his team are really nice. The atmosphere is one of a kind. I try to go there any time I am in Recklinghausen. Owner is able to surprise you with new Gin (Tonics) if you ask and he knows what he is doing. Would love to have such a nice small bar in my city! I am honest this is a fan post of someone who loved the bar when it was easy to get a place there on a Saturday evening. You might think this comment is only valid for June 2016 but it is valid for every month since then. Thank you very much for at least 50 awesome Gin Tonics.
