Goodson's Cafe - Reservar uma mesa

My first visit to Goodson's. One of my mother in law's favorite places, so she brought us to try it out. The overall service was spot on; a warm greeting when we came through the door, and super friendly warrior staff. Food was great!!! (With the tiniest exception for the beans they called charro beans; they tasted exactly like ranch style beans. I mentioned it, and the waitress kindly brought me a replacement. Hubz tried the Roast Beef Potato, which he said was delicious, and mother in law had her usual, Chicken Fried Chicken. It almost covered the whole plate! As for me, I had to try that Chicken Fried Steak, even though I really wanted the Shrimp Alfredo I live in the town called Crocke...

I visited this restaurant in the late 1970s and 1980s and they served the most delicious food. My friends who still live nearby rave about the quality of the food to this day. I wish there was a restaurant like that here in New Jersey where I currently reside. I have tried chicken fried steaks at many different places, but none compare to the ones I had there.

The restaurant is clean, the service is sophisticated, and the chicken fried steak was outstanding. The only downside was that both sides were a bit cold. The rolls could have been warmer. My only regret is not getting dessert, even if just to take it to go.

The beer could have been colder, but the food was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the chicken fried steak and the banana pudding was delicious!

Still the best chicken fried steak in Texas! Great food, great atmosphere, great service!
