Great Expections - Reservar uma mesa

I have enjoyed my visits to this pub in the past. Today I enjoyed the pork belly main entree. It was very good. My only complaint was the ‘sticky apricot and thyme glaze’ was not sticky but instead like a broth over the meat and covered the bottom of the plate. The carrots And broccoli were ok in this broth but the chips got a bit soggy. I still enjoyed the meal as the pork was cooked well... just would have liked the sticky glaze. Maybe next time! Service was excellent and I enjoyed a good glass of wine. Definitely will return!

First time in here Good variety of beer , ran out of Fosters !! Got my favourite Moretti Beer. Served in the wrong glass !! Unfortunately it was flat as I asked for a “no head” pint !! I sat outside none smoker but to enjoy the fresh air Relatively busy on this nice weather autumn Saturday evening 18:45) I guess probably because the prices are cheaper than other pubs in Reading , specially across the road Oracle Riverside)

Stayed for one night in a Thursday. Heck in was easy enough (end of bar). Room was good enough size and had all the facilities. A little on the warm side for my taste. Food choice in the bar is good and meal was well presented and tasted great. Room was on first floor and could hear the bar music fairly loudly until about 22:30 which was annoying. Breakfast was too late for me as check out early. No onsite parking.

The large space inside this pub is divided into multiple areas so it is possible to avoid the large TVs if you want to. There is a variety of decent beer available, and the food is good. I prefer the burgers here compared to the more hip burger resturants elsewhere in the town centre. worth the short walk up London Street.

Not bad for a town center pub. Hotel seams to be busy. Staff a tad lax a daisey and not on the ball but great spot for a reasonably priced drink or food
