We were staying in this country house as part of a tour and ate in the 'country kitchen ' style restaurant. Richard is an excellent host, full of chat and banter. The comfortable lounge was welcoming for a pre dinner drink, and Richard talked us through the menu and the various choices on offer. We went through to the dining room(s) and were surprised at the quaint layout of 'booths ' providing privacy and a cosy feel. The starters were OK, but the mains were magnificent. Their butcher had supplied a magnificent piece of fillet steak which was perfectly cooked, right up there with the best, really really good.
