Hiro Japanese Steakhouse

Hiro has to be our favorite local restaurant, hands down. It's a sushi restaurant with an owner/operator, Howard, who has a memory like an elephant and will remember all of his guests and details about them that you would not expect even closer relatives to remember (he will ask about my son who lives on the other side of the country and ate with us one time while visiting). His wife handles all the Sushi orders, his son handles anything that requires cooking outside of the sushi. Very family owned and oriented... Did I come to this place with my bosses and friends, the owners of Sherpa Cafe in Crested Butte and Gunnison? Great food and service, felt friendly, as if it was someone at home, was not too busy and did not have to wait for seats. Very spacious rooms and grateful the tables were stuffed. Also very affordable???

Although the restaurant was empty when I arrived, the guests followed me. The food was better than I expected in a locked state. I had Albacore, yellow tail, tuna and soup. Everything was wonderful and punctual. The staff was gracious and the owner seems honest and well maintained.

Worst Sushi ever had. The fish in the roll did not taste fresh. Rolls were so badly done, they fell apart when they were picked up. The Tempuragemüse was good. The food was expensive for what you have.

Ordered a poke bowl to go and this is what I got. No sauce. No sesame seed. No other vegetables. 11/10 would not recommend.
