Hochland Restaurant-Cafe

Although jay and I regularly visited in the middle of the forest we were not yet in the highlands (there are so many great places to eat and drink here). at our first visit we were all made really welcome by the very happy owner, rita could not have been more pleasant. we enjoyed it so much that we decided to book a table later in the week to make sure that jay would get a vegan meal of her choice. our choices were spaghetti with tomatensauce for jay, steaks for our friends and ritas recommended the local fried meat speciality for me with local beer, great. this is very a local restaurant and can also be very busy on weekdays. the food, drink, service and whole ambiente were great, we could...

This was the first place that we went to while staying in Mittenwald for a week. What a nice surprise to find such incredible food on our first shot! We speak essentially no German, and the owner/server didn't speak much English, but there was no...problem with communication. We returned later in the week for another meal. Both times, the food was fast, warm, flavourful, and good value. The owner really went out of her way to make sure that we were happy. We highly recommend this place.

we thought to be a light lunch and beer in this cozy little diner very close to the ti in the middle of the forest. the special of the day was the spargle suppe as it was in the season. holy cow! it was amazing! with the local middle forest...Brewery dark simply perfect! the other elements on the menu all looked inviting...and at a great price. the owner was very gracious and no language barriers for us non-German speakers.

as others have said when a place is where the locals go, they will get great food. that is certainly true of highland that we had chosen because it had written a promising menu outside. we found the food (and the dark beer) so good. that we went back a second night. rita, the owner, was so funny and made us feel like home.

we went after a long journey to dinner and very hungry. the menu looked very welcoming and the meals were excellent accompanied by local beer and wine from tirol. the other guests and waitress were very friendly and let us feel like we were not. only traveling.
