Came here to have lunch and ordered a few boxes. I had wanted to get the Korean steak, but as soon as the lady opened the lid, I changed my mind. The steak looked dried out and overcooked. It probably wasn 't like that when they first cooked it. It turned out that way when one kept food in the warmer for too long. I tried the BBQ chicken instead. They used thigh meat and it seemed like you can 't overcooked that too easily. Well, they proved me wrong. It was dry and salty. I really wanted to like it. The sides were not great either. My son got the kimichi, carrots, and green beans. He complained that the carrots tasted funny. My husband took a taste and declared it had the dirty water taste....
We got two boxes from HoM, one Korean Steak (w/ bean sprouts, seaweed salad, zucchini), one tofu.(vegetarian). Both were delicious! Portions were gigantic. For the Korean steak, I can see why the other reviews said it was too savory. The first several bites were definitely delicious, but it can become too much as the sodium builds up on your tongue. I asked for salad base but they gave me the purple rice mix, which turned out to be a positive surprise! The rice mix contained different kinds of nuts etc. which added pleasant subtle flavors to the rice.
Had a great experience at HoM tonight! I had placed a doordash order but the restaurant had run out of the chicken tofu. It would have been easy for them to cancel the order (especially because it was close to closing), but instead Stacy called me right away to let me know ask if I wanted a different protein instead. Stacy was so patient helpful. I was able to choose different options still receive my order. We will definitely be eating here again soon!
