"I have no idea what the food is like in this restaurant as we were turned away twice - once in the morning when trying to find out if the restaurant was open later in the day and once at 7.45 p.m. on a Friday night when we were told it was not possible to eat at that time. The owner/proprietor is obviously a John Cleese fan.Good luck if you try to get a meal here, but it might be easier to visit one of the other two very good restaurants on the square in Plougasnou."

The first thing to appreciate is that lunch is served very early, 1230 is by no means too early to arrive. Don't be put off by an element of shyness. Once established in the pleasant if sometimes somewhat cool dining room, (so dress warmly in winter) with a view over the village square you have a choice of several fixed price menus with usually two dishes of the day. These are delicious, ample in quantity, beautifully served and modestly priced. The open house white, a Sauvignon is a more than adequate accompaniment. The torte tartin is outstanding. Altogether first rate. C'est très bon.

We stopped in for a coffee on market day (Tuesday AM), and sat inside. One lady was behind the bar, and working feverishly using a home version of a coffee maker, and the other was trying to wait tables. We did get a coffee, and it was okay. Other people around us also were served coffee, but were told they served no food at all. They were not ready to serve a busy crowd, but one of the other restaurants on the square was not open. The restaurant looks the same as it might have in the 1970's, but without decoration.
