Hotel Restaurant Idyll

I dined here alone on a Sunday night in March while in Kaiserslautern on business. This restaurant was close to my hotel and had good reviews. My overall experience was very pleasant, but a few things were unusual that I'll comment on. It was...dark when I arrived and the front door of the restaurant was lit with a motion detector, so it was dark until I stepped up toward the door. Then, when I opened the door to the restaurant same thing it was dark in the foyer until the motion detector turned on the light. I just found this unusual. Idyll is tucked on the outskirts of the east side of Kaiserslautern, fairly close to the Irish House pub. The restaurant is on the first floor of a nice hotel and the ambiance is of a nice German restaurant, but not too formal. I've been...to Idyll several times and each time is something new and delicious on the menu. My favorite is their venison (Hirsch), it seems to always be cooked perfectly. I have also ordered the schnitzel many times. Probably the best schnitzel I've had in years of living here. Ate here on Thursday, May The food was okay...nothing too exciting which would make me want to return sooner rather than later. The main dish portions were SMALL in comparison to the BIG prices. Recommend you save yourself the headache of finding this...place (had to park in the forest and walk to the restaurant) and try one of the other great places in the area.

Found an off the beaten path restaurant in Kaiserslautern... OMG what a nice find. Service was outstanding and food was even better!! I'd go out of my way to eat here again... Parking was nice too... It's a keeper

Lovely place with the friendliest wait staff ever! We've been here numerous times and it's always great food and friendly smiles.
