Isabella's at Rochford Wines

Being a Tuesday (as the day of my Birthday), realising that many fine dining options aren't open in the Yarra Valley Region, we booked Rochford with fond memories of great occassions there albeit many years back. Things have changed... initial presentation arriving along the driveway is more akin to an outdoor music venue and prime views of stacks of plastic chairs, associated flotsam and back-of-house items within a fenced enclosure. Warning number 1. Warning number 2 comes as you are chanelled through entrance into Retail shop from where you then enter the barn like, loud and quite monotonous interior. A relaxed dining venue it aint... why book online for a la carte and then end up in said...

Visited the restaurant as a destination in its own right, it is part of the wine estate but really deserves to be known on its ownGreat setting, good staff and the food is outstanding. I was there on a wine tour but the wines estate was the the destination it was the restaurant. It was Father's Day, hence very busy and a restricted menu (still three starters, three mains and three different deserts) crab creme brûlée - integration not as expected but very very good, followed by short rib of beef - picky but could have had some more vegetables with it, and then the Apple crumble again outstanding This is eating on a Sunday at its best

I have eaten a Isabella's 30 times and since the menu changes I refuse to go back. The breakfast menu is absolute rubbish, there would be 15 places nearby that would be better. Save yourself the hassle and keep driving to the next place it will be better.

Very big and nice looking place and you expect the same with everything! Unfortunately, the expectations were higher than the reality. I couldn't expect that kind of feeling. Can't recommend to the best friends.

Man has it been years since I've been here! We ended up here on Labor Day because 1) we didn't feel like cooking/BBQ'ing, 2) original bbq spot we planned on
