Jewel City Seafood Market

For the price the food should at worst be warm. Tasted good but would have tasted a lot better if it wasn't cold. Had some onion rings on the side the grease had already congealed back to a pasty Greece it was so cold. Gross! Plus plates come without lemons. Seafood without a lemon on the plate. Had to wait for those.. and the prices were 4 and 6 more a plate then was on the menu. I was really hoping the manager would come around and ask how our food was. I didn't want to make a big fuss in a restaurant full of people so I let it go. I just will not ever go back to Jewel City cold Seafood!

We've been hearing great things about JCS for quite a while, so finally decided to try it out for my 40th birthday. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as great as we had heard. The only food that came out hot were the sides, and while I heard the coleslaw was good, the parsley potatoes (potato) and red beans and rice were not. Glad we finally tried it, but not likely to head back.

They have the best inland seafood. Crab legs were hot and fresh tasting, as was the oysters. Fried green tomatoes and dipping sauce were delicious. They have a cute historic upstairs waiting area that has original woodwork and pictures of the house and local community from long ago. It's worth every penny for a full belly.

I simply love this place! The physical set up of seating has changed, but the heart remains the same. Jewel City is a historical reminder of where we've been, where we are, and where we're going. If you love seafood and you've never been, fix that! It's worth it.
