Kanpai - Reservar uma mesa

I've always been a fan of Kanpai. Last night I went there with my gal for the Omakase and our minds were blown. Easily the best sushi meal I have ever had in my life, and I've eaten at some of the best sushi restaurants on the West Coast. Luke, the chef, delivered 8 top notch dishes with each one being nothing but spectacular. I have eaten at a lot of sushi restaurants in my life and the fact this place is a couple blocks from where I live is insane. Let him do what he does and deliver a meal that you will be thinking about for a long time.I normally go here about once a month for sashimi and rolls but the Omakase is definitely the way to go. Cannot say enough good things about Kanpai. Specifically the omakase, absolutely worth it to let the chef take you in his arms and deliver you the best sushi in Bend. The flavor concoctions that they curate for the omakase are always unimaginably delicious. Drooling sitting here writing this review. Besides the overwhelmingly delicious food, the staff and ambience is just as good. Kanpai is a quaint neighborhood sushi joint, which I would highly recommend reservations for, especially for omakase. Staff is always so kind, fun, and attentive. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 5-year anniversary with the Kanpai Omakase. We both were absolutely floored by how amazing it is and are definitely coming back to experience it again (no special occasion needed! . Every course was great, even the ones we had both been hesitant to try beforehand. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated on-time and promptly. Service was amazing and the Harry Nillson and Prickly Lady cocktails were well balanced. So excited to come back and recommend the experience to anyone and everyone.

Can't really rate this place because we left before we got seated. We asked for a table for three and were not offered outdoor seating even though it was open. You can't wait inside or even go inside until you're seated so we waited at a table on the patio. Then another group came up and were immediately seated at the table we were sitting at and we were asked to move. Very rude hostess. I'll never go back. If you go, kindly wait in the bushes until they decide whether you are worthy of their fine establishment.

The food was noticeably less... enjoyed. Not sure if this is due to new ownership, new chefs... Not bad, but not up to the standards that they set in the past.Food: 2/5
