We were in this restaurant and were not impressed, but when we heard that it had changed hands, we decided to give him another chance, what a transformation! With bright candles, crisp white tablecloths and rea slick service of talented young...servers, this place promised everything and did still disappoint. We didn't have a starter, but we went to the jugular immediately. My wife a vegetarian had risotto with spinach, my father in Law Lachs and I short ribs. The risotto and salmon looked good and I was told that I tasted good while the short ribs were like butter on the tongue. First impressions are that the restaurant is dirty and tired with dusty clutter on every available surface making the place look unloved and unhygienic. The menu is small and based around local food with seasonal variations. I ordered from this menu hoping to get fresh...ingredients but everything seemed to be from a can, frozen or just tasteless. To top it off both my savoury soup and my filet steak (cooked well done when requested rare) were weirdly covered in sweet cream from a can... at least they didn’t mess up the chips as these were definitely not home made. I’d suggest eating at almost anywhere else and avoiding here until they do some serious cleaning and get a new chef.

This local favorite spot is newly revamped with a much needed face lift. Restaurant Kapuzinerstube has recently been reopened with a much needed face lift. The food has nods to the German classics, while introducing a Mediterranean flare to the menu. The Michelin caliber chef...duo from California have brought their skills to this quaint Black Forest town. At times I feel a little too touristy at other big city restaurants, but Kapuzinerstube has a sincerity in its service and food that is truly refreshing.

I have been working in the area for over 3 months and Kapuzinerstube has become a solid favorite. The food is great and the staff is friendly and dedicated.

Nice food and very good service. Beautiful outdoor seating and large portions. For lunch and a little waiting time.
