First you rejoice that it's 1st October, and the children are safely back in school and NOW you can safely take dogs, off lead, along the beautiful miles of golden sands to freely run, play ball, paddle and swim in the sea, with the superb...backdrop of Old Harry Rocks and the Purbecks to your right; Poole and Bournemouth Bay to your left, and the Isle of Wight and Needles on a good day. Heaven! you may even be lucky enough to spot a red nosed naturist on a good day. Then after a good blow in the freshest of airs you finish up with a trip to Knoll Beach cafe for a light meal and a trot round The National Trust ship. The cafe owners proudly claim to be open EVERY day of the year except Christ...

Visited Knoll beach today during October half term with kids and grandparents. Lots of parking, lovely white sand beach which the kids loved. Made the mistake of visiting the NT cafe for lunch. Queued out of the door. Poor selection of food. No children’s food...options available, when I asked was snapped at by a very stressed out/ grumpy lady on the till. Kids just had chips in the end! Everything we ordered we were snapped at (it was a large order) and made to feel we were causing a problem. I had to walk away in the end as felt I would lose my temper. To be fair the chips were nice, no ketchup due to supply issues. Baked potato and coleslaw tasty but could have had a bit of salad on the p...

for the second time, a long wait for two coffees. there is no coordination between payment and collection, so barista staff that makes the wrong drinks (experienced by people before us) caused another waiting period. to finish everything, a decision was made. hit on bardogs, from the reason that the caffe is too small to separate areas for those with dogs and that without. this, in late autumn, when not a single table in the inner was occupied. Come on, national trust, you can do better. How would it be right to refuse access if the caffe is busy? this beach is a popular place for dog owners and their taking will be affected when it is too cold to sit outside.

To be honest, it was a bit frustrating that the restaurant didn't open their parking lot until 9:00 AM when many people want to start their day early with their dogs in the beautiful weather. They didn't actually open until 9:30 AM, which led to a lot of customers leaving because they couldn't park. If I had known about this earlier, I would have gone somewhere else.
