La Boucherie is just a short walk from the Grand Aquarium and is a great alternative to the Aquarium restaurant. It was very busy at lunchtime, when we visited, and the demand for tables (both in the restaurant and on the terrace) was such that we had a 20 minute wait to be seated. That being said, the waitresses made sure that the table was prepared before taking us to it. The menu is varied with set meals and children 's options and the bar had a wide selection of drinks available. Although the staff were rushed off their feet, they worked as a well oiled unit, nothing was neglected and they each took time to discuss our requirements and chat about our visit to the area. We had eaten in another one of these in Limoges so were pleased to find one on our overnight stopover in Saint Malo and we certainly not disappointed. Although it is on a large retail park near the aquarium, there is a lovely atmosphere when you walk in with lots of locals at the table making it lively and inviting. Our son enjoyed his burger and the entrecotes for my husband and I were perfectly cooked with a good choice of sauces. We treated ourselves to a bottle of the Chateau de L'Engarran having enjoyed one previously so all in all it was a very happy evening for us! We went to this restaurant for dinner and have had one of the worst meals anywhere ever. We've been to this chain many times in different parts of France and Luxembourg. Rump steak was so tough it was almost inedible. They changed it once for one which was equally bad. To be fair they did offer to change them yet again but we would have been there all night! No reduction was made to the bill. An embarrassed waitress apologise profusely but clearly management did nothing to remedy the situation. We shall never visit this chain again.
Having just had a terrible meal at nearby restaurant, we did not want to spend more money on dessert and coffee there. This restaurant allowed us to come in just for dessert and coffee. Both were excellent and the staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately neither of us eats meat so we can't consider this for a full meal!
