La Citadelle - Reservar uma mesa

I have been in a lot of restaurants around the world and certainly in this part of France (Languedoc, Hérault) that I love, the whole over the last 15 years. The experience at La Citadelle was a first for me! I never thought a French restaurant could score so low in: a) service quality; b) attitude; c) atmosphere! There were only 4 tables (9 people) for dinner yet we had to wait about 2 hours to get our food. My main course was cavalierly delivered along with the entrées for my 2 dinner partners (and this from a French restaurant??). Then after an unacceptable near hour wait, the two other main courses were finally delivered, minus the chips one had ordered! Seems our waitress was more preoc...

We knew from other reviews that the service would be poor, so we settled in and relaxed. The food itself was lovely: a delicious, rich fish soup followed by salmon with accompaniments of excellent flavour and texture. The home-made dessert was also lovely. Very good chef. The co-owner, Sandrine, is perfectly pleasant but utterly chaotic. Another couple arrived during our meal but left because they received no attention at all. The surroundings are plain - a bit canteenish - but the food is excellent value.

La maîtresse de ces lieux vous accueille avec sourire et sympathie. Ses plats sont fait avec goût et présentés avec finesse. Un cuisine innovante qui peut s'adapter à toutes les intolérances et allergies en tous genres. Moi même allergique au lactose et au gluten, j'ai mangé délicieusement et sereinement. Venez rendre visite à la Citadelle sans le regretter!!!

We have visited this restaurant several times on previous holidays and were pleased to return on Sunday evening.The waitress was very welcoming and the pizzas were excellent as always - thin, crispy bases with generous toppings. We also enjoyed desserts and coffee.We sat outside as it was a nice evening and enjoyed watching the locals passing by.

Déjeuner de midi excellent. Nous nous sommes régalés et avons été enchantés de l'accueil réservé, toujours avec le sourire, même si le personnel était "débordé". Nous recommandons ce restaurant.
