La Friterie de La Vallee

I really wanted to love the food, especially since they had won an award and had high reviews on Trip Advisor. However, I was not impressed with the poutine, and neither was my brother or mother. The fries were fresh and crispy, which was a plus. The server seemed to make them to order, rather than letting them sit for a while. Unfortunately, the sauce was lacking in flavor. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps curry, herbs, or paprika. We couldn't quite put our finger on it. When we arrived at 12:20 p.m., there were about 6 people waiting for their orders, with 4 of them opting for takeout. The restaurant had 5 or 6 tables available for dining in, which is what we chose to do. The orders ahead of us were served quickly, and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for our food. The owner was busy making the fries, while a girl was adding condiments and preparing the takeout orders. Although the girl did not speak English, the owner did and he explained the differences between poutine BBQ, poutine Italienne, and poutine poulet. Despite the miserable weather outside, it was nice to see the owner busy and the food being served efficiently.

The aptly named Friterie de la Vallee is both in La Vallee de Saint Sauveur and owned/operated by Sylvain LaVallee. You can 't miss Sylvain ... a mountain of a man with it seems a heart to match. The potatoes are freshly cut, the poutine sauce unique and home made as is his POGO batter and his pulled pork. Food this good cannot be bad for you .... Sylvain even has a bowl of water outside the door for the many four legged friends that might accompany the impulse diner out on an evening stroll. Yummy Yummy Yummy ...

This is a typical French fast food place where you can get the standards like poutins and smoked meat sandwiches. We went on a Sunday night just before graduation and they were gracious to serve us. Enjoy it every time I'm here!

Pulled pig is fantastic, but you come for the Poutine (or Fritten) and you are not disappointed. Attention: Parts are huge!
