"The English management of this restaurant are always welcoming and it is a cosy place to stop after a good morning's skiing. It has been renovated in the recent past. The views are stunning and the menu is much more interesting than the standard mountain fare. Quality and service are excellent. And they have live music on, I think, Monday lunchtimes."

We have travelled to Les Gets for skiing for many years now, and without fail one of the highlights of the trips are our visits to La Grande Ourse. The food is beautifully cooked, with a superb and varied menu, the location is stunning with wondeful views over the mountains from the panoramic windows and the sunny terrace. On the Mondays during our recent visit they had a fantastic live band playing, with a great laid back, friendly atmosphere, a real treat. We have taken several friends their on their first visits to Les Gets and the response has always been: when can we come back? In our group we had various dishes including ribs, pizzas, burgers and some of the Grand Ourse' own specialty...

Booked a table on a Friday afternoon for lunch knowing the fantastic band squid lips would also be there. Was not disappointed with any aspect of the visit. Unfortunately the visit was cut short due to a thunderstorm, blizzard and the announcement that we had to leave the mountain due to the bizarre weather. Concerned as we had members of our party who were visually impaired and another who was injured the owners stepped in to help. Gareth and Liana were wonderful and took us down the mountain in their own piste basher picking up other stranded and vulnerable people en route. The care and compassion that they showed in helping so many people is a testament to their values and beliefs which i...

Who is this miserable reviewer who gave one of the most popular Mountain restaurants I have ever visited one star? The only complaints I've ever heard are being turned away because it's too busy! If he doesn't want to pay a premium for drinking and eating a freshly made steak burger, a mile high up the mountain with the most stunning views (the owners, the hospitable Venning family, were not in charge of the weather that day), why does he not stay in the valley and stop whingeing?

Horribly overpriced and well below the quality you can find elsewhere. Awful service - slow and rude waiters; the uninterested manager could not care less. Saw a waiter drop a knife and then one of the kitchen chefs gave him a horribly unnecessary dressing-down which you could easily call verbal abuse.Save your money or go and teach them some manners.
