La Maison - Reservar uma mesa

Our Gites host recommended La Maison for a good meal nearby. When we arrived, the staff said that they were full but if we could wait, they would set up another table for two. After 5 minutes they had carried another table into the restaurant room and set it up for us. We summarise the meal as tasty, hearty family country cooking. Everything we had was enjoyable, the service was very helpful and attentive (even though they were busy). We booked a couple of days ahead for our wedding anniversary lunch having read good reviews and were given a friendly welcome. The waiter didn't speak much English but with a little help from a neighbouring table we all managed to get ourselves understood. We selected off the 27€ fixed menu and enjoyed an excellent salmon tarte, steak and frits followed by creme caramel chocolate mouse. We drank the local wine from the Cave next door at 6.50€ half ltr and with a glass of the local Cremant de Rauzan (bubbles) and a coffee came to 80€ with tip. We would recommend especially if our staying at the lovely Vieux de Chateau campsite 15mins walk away and don't have to drive.

This restaurant is not bad. You can eat here relatively cheaply, €35 will get you four courses and a glass of wine. The food is okay, not the best in the area but tasty enough. The atmosphere is a bit tired and dated, but not ugly. The staff are helpful and friendly enough but possibly more suited to a bar than a restaurant. All in all, an average experience!

Closed Made the effort to give it a go for lunch following the good reviews and it was closed despite saying on website/tripadvisor open! . Looked very scruffy. Very disappointed

Had dinner there last night. Salmon and Beef Fillet as well as a Mushroom Entrée. Mushroom was very good.. rest average. Wine rather expensive at €26/bottle and medium quality.
