My wife and I arrived here after by accident, we parked on teh square as we often do and saw the menu on teh calk board outside. There is not too much open on a Saturday lunchtime and although I was sceptical about the level of cuisine in a pizzeria we decide to give it a try. We were a few days after Valentine, but the set Valentine 's menu was still available which consisted of 3 courses for 28 EUR, normally on a weekend it is 25. Weekdays they serve a main course plus café gourmand for 16. As a starter there was a choice between a goat 's cheese in pastry and oeuf cocotte (egg cooked in a water bath in the oven, it comes out similar to poached) with salmon. Three of us had lunch here and had a great meal. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. We started with mulled wine which came with a hot savoury pastry appetiser. We all had the set menu with Maroilles cheese sauce on our steak which was cooked oerfectly for an English 'bien cuit ' and also had a slice of the same cheese on top of our steak win win! The cafe gourmande was two really nice cold desserts with a mini waffle. We took our time and enjoyed every mouthful. What a great find this restaurant was! Thoroughly recommend.
Excellent meal, we had goats cheese salad followed by the fish and the lamb. The staff were friendly and professional, we could speak very little French, but it didn’t make any difference to our enjoyment. If I could say one thing I think would improve the popularity…. Remove the large board in the window, it’s nice to look into a restaurant when choosing where to eat (we almost didn’t go in, but a very pleasant member of staff saw us and came out to say hello).
