La Table D'olivier

This restaurant is located in the middle of a small medieval village, so parking is always a problem. Samatan is considered the capital of foie gras. Mondays are "market day" and the duck and geese market is a delight to see, especially for kids. The restaurant has a Prix Fixe menu for 17.50 euros. It includes a soup or hors d'oeuvres, a main course, a dessert and a glass of wine. The chef/ owner, Olivier, creates imaginative gastronomic masterpieces worthy of 3 Michelin stars at Michelin "BIB" prices. The dining room is small but the terrace is perfect for eating and people watching. The word about this culinary jewel is getting around, so reservations are de rigueur.

Set lunch here is €17 and changes regularly - always delicious. We've been coming here for 4/5 years and love sitting under the shade of the big tree out front, enjoying great local food that is modern and very tasty. Service is just right - not too fast, not too slow. Their English is good too, if that is a requirement. It is better to book, especially on market days.

The food is always presented brilliantly, lovely restaurant setting. Staff are always very nice, best staff from my whole trip to France. The food is always good quality and nice, however our soup starter could have been a bit hotter. Other than that, loved it and can't wait to go back. Best to book.

The food is like the décor. Standard. Banal. Un-authentic. Probably prepackaged and just made pretty on the plate. Very uninteresting.

Delicious fine cuisine. Quite elegant inside. Need to reserve as is very popular. More of a subdued atmosphere
