"The dishes with vegetables have no taste, although they look fancy. However, meat dishes were quite good, almost very good. The service is not that ok, they tend to look at you like you are bothering them with your presence."

My husband and I had lunch at the end of September at the Auberge des Ruines restaurant in Jumièges. As professionals in the food industry, we were looking forward to sampling their cuisine. Since we sometimes reside in nearby Honfleur, we drove to there for lunch. The outside of the building was attractive in the half-timbered style, but entering the practically empty restaurant, we found the inside unremarkable. The servers were attentive and from the rather limited menu my husband selected the 45-euro lunch course and I choose one of the a la carte fish mains. The meal started with a small plate of a rather odd assortment of unmemorable bits and bobs with a small bite of a bland, commerci...

Our third visit here with our children, now age 11 and 9. We booked via email several months in advance to secure a Saturday evening table and inform them of our daughters dairy allergy. On arrival we were personally greeted by Christophe and assured all allergies can be accommodated. We enjoyed aperitif drinks and amuse bouche of red cabbage mousse, excellent. The wine list is extensive and across a wide price range, we had a little help to choose the perfect red and white wines and were delighted with the choices. Starters were smoked mackerel for my husband and son, sea bream tartare for my daughter and langoustine carpaccio for me...wow! Main course was duck for my husband and cod for th...

I could not be any more disappointed in a restaurant than I am right now. A menu that hardly caters what children would eat lentil patty and raw vegetables or trout infused with hogweed. When we arrived we were given a cocktail of fish wee and sea weed. Most of the staff did not speak a word of English and could not care any less about anything except taking your money. It was blatant thievery. The staff who spoke English had selective speaking and would not take any criticism. Their menu would not bend for children at all and would not even do simple dishes for the children. The staff were arrogant and thought they were the only restaurant in town worth going to to add to that the staff had...

After a last minute decision to extend a stay in France, we stumbled across the beautiful village of Jumieges. Delightful small village, limited restaurants and eateries. Auberge des Ruines presents itself as a premium restaurant, however do not be fooled by appearances. The staff are completely rude and condescending, the food is mediocre at best and well Over priced for what it is. This is most definitely NOT a family restaurant. Asking about children’s options McDonalds is recommended. Emailing complaints to the owner results in limited response, then blatant avoidance of any correspondence. Save yourself a lot of disappointment and money. Go to the Creperie around the corner, simple, hon...
