We had the following issues: 1. When the chèvre chaud was delivered it was not warm or hot and when I asked for it to be warmed up the waitress said this was not possible without even referring to the chef 2. When the civet was presented it was almost cold as were the sarladaise potatoes plus greasy and flabby 3. The waitress was surly and unhelpful 4. The guest next to us pointed out that the chair he was sat on was broken and dangerous but she said it was fine we checked and it needed to be thrown out or fixed 5. Madame Janine did come and ask how our meal was but being English we just nodded politely but on reflection felt that something needed to be said to preserve her reputation 6. We...

2 hours under the shade of a glorious old walnut tree with 50 other diners (all French), a five course meal of local delights, beautiful red wine got to say it beats roast and Yorkshire puddings We opted for the 27 euro Perigordine menu (although the 21 euro also looked good) Country soup (huge tureen at the table), fois grad (with smoked duck, melon, salad and quince), confit with potatoes and walnut salad, small cheese plate and finally choice of pear, peach, walnut or chocolate desert The 6 mile cycle from Montignac was so worth it, albeit the return was slower Two ladies working really hard serving all the tables but so attentive and finally “Jeanine” came out and spoke to every table in...

all, I say well everything is there to make you spend a good time: the frame with the fireplace and the vichy tablecloths, the very smiling welcome, the conviviality that starts with the dinner brought on the table for a moment of sharing, the quality of the products so well highlighted by a traditional cuisine that you no longer find, etc ... a big thank you to jeanine and his team for this time spent in your company! the small, the passage of the jeanine to each table at the end of the meals, what kindness, goodness and know how to do. not to be missed if you pass on the side of the montignac lascaux!!! thank you!

Our hotel advised us to book as it is one of the few in the (very rural) locality. As it was hot, all tables were outside under the trees (and were occupied), and we had a lovely view of the locality. Staff were very friendly and coped with our rusty French. Although the dinner menu had limited choice, the food was what we would expect from a local restaurant fresh ingredients, simple dishes and well cooked and presented (you are warned: foie gras, a local speciality, was very evident on the menu). Best of all the bill was very reasonable for a set menu with wine better quality and value than our meals in Bordeaux!

very beautiful setting, this inn is really beautiful in interior and exterior stone, a warm campagnarde decoration, a real cloth table, a flowered table center...Beautiful exterior view.Menu baby copious (with duck sleeves or chopped steak) has 10 euros with flat entrance dessert the entrance soup has seduced small and large. Very good relations qualities/price of the dishes, the dishes are good, traditional local cuisine, we took confit of duck this last was well cooked and the potatoes persilted very good! a passage to make at janine!

Having just visited Lascaux we were ready to step away from the crowds. This was a great find. Proper home cooking. Most tables were in the shade in the garden. We ate inside at the back overlooking the valley and the chateau. This felt like proper cooking not just a tourist menu. We would happily return

We visited this family run ferme auberge on a Sunday lunchtime and had the €29 menu. The food was adequate and the service friendly but not up to the standard of some others in this beautiful area.
