Le Bistrot Saint Jean

We had an excellent and good value al fresco set lunch in this beautiful location overlooking Bazas cathedral. We had starters of pâté and an amazing goat's cheese salad followed by veal (sadly, they'd just sold the last portion of lasagne, but we didn't sit down until around 1315 so only have ourselves to blame!). The portion sizes were so big that we didn't have any room for dessert, which was a shame as these looked amazing and were going down a treat on other tables - next time we'll go for main and dessert not starter and main! Service was well paced (even though the place was packed) and friendly and the coffee strong and accompanied by a lovely little cake. Well worth a visit.

Had luch here with our friends. Chose the lunch menu de jour, absolutely delicious, and good portion size and excellent value for money. My husband and I had the local beef steak, highly recommended and cooked to perfection. Lovely view of the square and Bazas Cathedral.

Very well located, the view cannot be beaten, through the market-place and up to the cathedral. Food was just ok, salad uninspired but meat well-cooked. Desserts were the highlight of the meal. A little pricy for what we had.

Stopped for lunch, had salads and a glass of wine. The place seemed a little disorganized but service was not too long. food was average, the location and views great.

Ate a lovely lunch menu , got shown the inevitable picture of Rick Stein but we like the atmosphere and food
