Situated right in the centre of St Rabier, these premises have a pleasant outlook over the fields. It is part of an hotel, but open to the public. First impressions were that it was very clean and airy. We used this restaurant twice during our visit to the Dordogne, it would have been more but we found it closed when we visited on a Monday, on both occassions we were greeted as if we were regular customers by both the waiter and a young waitress, who were very pleasant and attentive., depite there being two large parties in the restaurant at the same time as us. What a wonderful find! Just off the D704 in Saint-Rabier, this large air-conditioned restaurant, part of a hotel, has great views over rolling hills. We arrived for an early dinner with our gourmand toddler and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Star dishes were the "petite salade Périgourdine" which was not very petite at all and which has now set the standard for all future salads. Absolutely amazing, and I feel like a complete chump for having fearfully avoided gésiers all my life - they are pink nuggets of meaty deliciousness, as far removed from "gizzard" as it is possible to be. We dine here fairly often as it is convenient for trips on the A89 and the D704.The food is standard Perigord fare and after 10 years visiting we can say is invariably up to a good grade. The menus de jour and the à la carte give a decent choice and you can splash out on some good wine at a fair cost.By the way, the local workers use it so it must be OK.

La salade st rabier, l'oeuf mollet au vin de bergerac, le samoussa de canard, le crème brûlée à la pistache bio du lot, Un Régal! Bravo! Trop de balsamique sur la galantine, Dommage! Ris de veau excellent... éviter les patates, les autres légumes suffisent. Et pour finir, service Impeccable! Le restaurantg mériterait un coup de jeunesse.
