Le Continental - Reservar uma mesa

August 2020, it is very hot in La Ciotat. We walk along the old harbor and look for a shadowed place for a drink. We sit down under a tree in bar/restaurant le Continental. We ordered two "big black "coffee and had quite an interesting conversation with the waitor about what we wanted. It appeared to be that in France a big black coffee is named differently. The following week we only had to make a gesture for our coffee. Later on in the evening a pastis was not measured but poured out directly in the glass. When you order an ice cream, beware! The amount of ice and whipped cream will surprise you at reasonable prices . Also the dimension of the burger there are not average. Friendly people,...

It is an old style bar on the port of La Ciotat... so to sit here in the evening looking to the port ant to the night market is already worthwile... it is one of the few places on the seaside which is not a restaurant too... you can sit here any time as long as you like... And ice-creams are really good: very large, very well served, very good and not over expensive. If you have dinner in one nearby restaurant, do not take a dessert (most cases are just average) and come here for an ice-cream to end your evening...

We were nicely welcomed on the terrace and rapidly served. The beer was a Saint Olmer, really refreshing. However we were really disgusted by the toilets which had not tap water to clean our hands and looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 70s. The decoration of the bar also confirmed my supposition. Don't go there!

Only visited for drinks and found the staff very pleasant. Prices for beers was on the same level as say London prices but a nice view of the marina.
