"A great find in Royan that we had not noticed before, despite the restaurant having been there for many years. Great tagines and lovely seafood and a friendly owner. We wished the waitresses could smile more!"

Squid, smelts, and fish rillettes... a simple lunch from the sea, and given this cluttered and uncared for restaurant overlooked the ocean, you could be forgiven for thinking a treat was in store. Without being back of house, its hard to say for certain that the calamari and smelts came out of a freezer bag, but calamari with bright orange breadcrumbs is at least an indicator. Not lightly dusted with a quick dip through the fryer, more jailed in crunchy crumbs and murdered in boiling oil. Then the smelts; you know that wonderful taste of freshly fried whitebait a little crunch on the outside and a mouth popping of fresh succulent fish. We took a trip to Le Mogador on the coast at ROYAN for a family lunch .One of our first eating out experiences and our first trip to the coast post Lockdown in the UK .We had a lovely table in this bright airy restaurant overlooking the busy port .Tables were socially distanced ,masks worn in and out of restaurant and by staff at all times ,and hand sanitiser readily available . The food was absolutely delicious .I had the plat de jour 3 course 20€ my husband the seafood platter and kids cod and steak respectively .Empty plates all round and we were made so welcome and comfortable despite the necessary precautions taken. A little off the beaten track with a wonderful view of the now busy por...

We got off the bac at Royan and found this restaurant. Tuna tartare with an asian twist was a delight, fresh and tasty. I then had the aubergine and fish burger, my partner had the scallops, both dishes were delicious. Unfortunately i think the waitress was learning, as we had to ask for bread and cutlery.(lose a point for the service) The view over the fishing port is nice and relaxing, and the deco in the restaurant good. Couscous and tajines were also on the menu, but we didnt try them next time.

This unpretentious restaurant with nice views of the harbour offers French and Moroccan dishes. An amuse-bouche is offered while waiting for the first course. Menu prices are reasonable compared to other downtown tourist establishments. There is a limited choice for fish varieties but food is obviously freshly cooked and well presented. Wines available are of quality. The staff were most polite, professional and welcoming.
