Hidden behind a small sign and a nondescript frontage a few metres off the Bvde Montparnasse is le Parc au cerfs. This restaurant is definitely not a pub gastro or otherwise. The menu is not large but beautifully balanced as is the wine list. Prices are reasonable in line with the quality of the food . A 50cl of petit Chablis at 19€ was very good. You can order a 2 course or 3 course menu. My nut crusted veal was perfect as were the accompanying mash and vegetables. A deconstructed pavlova a perfect finish. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant even has a tiny outdoor area for warm nights. Despite the frontage the restaurant restaurant is quite large but be safe and book.

The restaurant has a warm and welcoming ambience, especially the back room with its skylight and double height. Service is also personable and warm. However, the diners in our party had very different experiences. Whereas my cardamom blini with marinated salmon and poached egg was pleasant enough, my veal with nut crust was practically tasteless with no hint of crunch in the crust. Another diner in our party could hardly drink her gazpacho because it was acrid from oversalting. She also found her risotto bland. On the other hand, other members of our party were perfectly satisfied with their dinners and had no complaints at all.

This restaurant is located in the famous Montparnasse side one of the living place at night in Paris. This is an old artist workshop that has been remodel in a very welcoming way, you feel like home. Staff is paying great attention, polite and efficient. Food is great we started with a blini with cream and smoked salmon, not very big as Texas size, followed by the daily special (veal stew with sauce) and a slice of roasted pork, and good chocolate fudge to finish. You can have some good find on the wine list that is not that expensive. All togather a great experience, we will come back.

There are some constants here at work; very good food, affordable house wine, generously spaced tables. And the cool attitude of the staff. Last time the patron recognized us, and then he quickly put on his Buster Keaton face. This time my wife had the avocado and the blanquette de veau and I had a bisque and a kind of pork chop off the bone. Half a litre of the house wine. Nothing could be faulted. And the waitress did a tolerably good imitation of the patron. With a bit of practice, who knows...
