the vendangerot is one of our favorite restaurants. eating is always exceptionally good and the wee too. but come all the good things to end and the Logis/restaurant has a new husband and wife owner, and is about to lose his long standing chef...de kitchen. So the things are not so good. eating is still, for the moment at least, excellent. a good selection of menus, all inexpensive, allow them to choose the type of meal they are looking for with or without cheese. weine start from 20€, and the good local sorts are all around the 40€ mark, which is good. the inner seems to have lost what it had charm. The last time I visited Le Vendangerot (about two years ago) I took clients there for a relatively expensive lunch and both the food and the service were lacklustre, disappointing and certainly not value for money. I was persuaded to go back and try it...with the new owners and today I had the most delightful three-course lunch, in this lovely quiet setting in Rully. I started with Oeufs en Meurette and it was honestly one of the best I have ever tasted, followed by Dos de Cabillaud in a lovely light aromatic (Thai flavoured) sauce and the most delicious dessert to follow. we simply wandered around the chalonaise region and just stumbled over this restaurant after we discovered the small village rully. the special day card was selected by our whole group, with a chicken dish that was just delicious and a... apple and cowardly that was crazy good. in the fact, this was one of the most unforgettable meals of our week in burgund, especially considering that it was very good for quality. our waiter was helpful, attentive and made good wein recommendations. that he also spoke excellent English was a decided bonus.

my friend had eaten here in the past and had lukewarm experiences. but she had heard that it was taken over by new owners in the januar (2020) and so it was very interested to try. I was impressed, possibly the best Oeufs meurette I've ever eaten. (and I had my share) and even the Courgette star was tasty and fresh. our main thing was solid and then came desserts, which was another high. All-in-all, very nice and the service was super friendly and good.

we stopped for lunch and were not disappointed. what a beautiful foundation on Monday, when much is closed. the lunch menu was excellent and very fair to 19 euro. we had excellent fishing and the local wine was top class.
