Les Bars'jo - Reservar uma mesa

Those who know France well, will always gravitate to an eating place in the central market hall of a regional city like Limoges. Bars'Jo is well placed to source fresh local ingredients which, of course, in this part of the world means the beef in particular is excellent. A plat du jour for 9.50 Euros is a steal as is the 13.50 Euro three course set lunch. The service is excellent, the food is consistently outstanding, and the atmosphere is bustling. This is not the individualistic world of Britain and America, so be preapred for the communitarian experience of seating at long refectory tables. At Jo 's Bar across the street from Les Halles Centrales, I took a lunch with some unhappiness on entering because I could not find another restaurant, Au coin des Halles. I ordered a supreme of poulet, which tasted as if Jo had just opened the can of mushroom soup and poured it on top. The fries, as always in France, were hot and excellent. The wine was good. One good thing bad thing about Joe 's Bar was that the supreme of chicken came out within 3 minutes after I ordered it, giving me some idea of how it was prepared. However, I could thereby end my hunger quickly, but not my unhappiness.

We have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. Not for the timid.....but courage mon brave! It's worth it. No romantic little tables for two here...long benches where you will sit cheek by jowl with locals all out for a good lunch.

This place is buzzing and it has a great atmosphere. Excellent service which we could not fault. Staff were polite and helpful. Food was very good, locally sourced meat. A great find. Will come back....
