Rather disappointed by this starred restaurant. Certainly the exterior setting is magnificent but in the restaurant the atmosphere is not there. Especially when only 3 tables are occupied. The price is that of a starred restaurant (350 euros for 3). You accept it if the experience leaves a positive impression on you. This was not the case... The presentation of the dishes is beautiful but without much originality. The flavors did not awaken our taste buds. The main course was very ordinary.... The desserts on the other hand were superb! Be careful to specify not only your food intolerances but also and above all your tastes because there is no choice! Not everyone likes oysters and red meat....
A fantastic dinner with incredible flavours matching tradition with modern touches. Every course was a highlight with a dessert course that was served in two parts a nice touch. The starter of a perfectly seared escalope of foie paired with a peach sorbet was out of this world in a combination of hot and cold, savoury and sweet. Who would have thought such a combination would be a heavenly pairing. The main course of deboned quail roasted to juicy perfection was the best quail dish I have had in 30 years and that is saying something as I always order quail when I see it on the menu. Everything is very good, the service and the food. So why not give 5 stars? The memory that this evening will leave me which did not bring me that certain something which makes it go from very good to memorable. The wine list only has a few affordable wines, which is surprising in a wine-growing region where you can find excellent products at very reasonable prices.
It’s so difficult for staff during the Covid restrictions, but the team at Les Fresques coped admirably and ensured that the dining experience was first class. We had the Chef’s tasting menu and it was superb, and each course was beautifully presented by the waiting staff. We will be back (soon) and hopefully in more normal times!
