"Wonderful fire-roasted wild boar preceded by salads de geziers, accompanied by incredible French fries. We did a large family style meal with a group. Restaurant is rustic, village is small. Worth a trip!"

It's quite a drive to Bugarach, but the scenery along the way is fantastic! Les Saveurs du Terroir is an interesting spot, which you could easily walk right by if you weren't looking for it. There are 2 dining areas the more casual bistro as you enter and the main dining area up the stairs. We sat upstairs and were the only non locals/French speaking patrons. We shared the starter salad with sauteed gizzards which had a wonderful dressing that you just couldn't help but sop up with the thick cut bread. I then had the lamb which was grilled over the open fired in the dining room which came with sauteed vegetables and real french fries. My other half had the wild boar which came in a wonderful...
As we discussed restaurants in the area with some of our French friends we were told that the restaurant Les saveurs du Terroir was very good so we tried the lunch yesterday. the locals told us that the ferme du Janou was a good restaurant. And after our meal we were a bit disappointed, however the price of 13,50 p.p. was not bad. The tomato salad with some pâté was ok good dressing. After this the main course was lamb from the grill with fries. And the desert was chocolat. A comparision of this restaurant with te other local restaurant makes no sense as this is a totally other type of food. The ferme du Janou you should visit if you want to eat outstanding food. You will spend 50, Euro p.p....
A meal here is all you'll need for the next 24hrs. I had melon, ham and salad and homemade bread followed by a huge whole crispy fried dorade,a bottle of local ipa beer, homemade nougat icecream and coffee ...and it was heaven. I don't usually spend €30 on lunch but I'd do it again! The owner was correct and efficient and without even asking brought a bowl of water for my dog and also welcomed him in to the cool of the restaurant where I dropped titbits unber the table for him.
Despite a reservation at another restaurant (Ferme de Janou) which was closed despite their confirmation of our online reservation, we went to this restaurant. Very friendly welcome and service, cozy cook, typical local French restaurant. Delicious 3-course menu (among other goat cheese salad, chicken on the spit, flan catalane, lovely wine and a free liqueur on the house), we rolled off the table because we were completely full. wonderful atmosphere. Go there and experience!
