…this is the real deal. Switzerland is expensive, no doubt about it, so a gem like this is a real find. Packed with locals, one whole table of which was playing cards and having a grand time, only added to the pleasure of this cozy Swiss tavern serving up local comfort food by the generous plateful (cash only, so hit the ATM before heading in.) The amazing woman (pictured on the website) was a one-woman show serving the entire packed dining room and a private party out back, keeping no one waiting very long, all things considered. The fixed price meal (45SF for two) included delicious soup and a nice salad followed by a huge dish of homemade spaetzle and high-quality homemade veal sausage to...

Just barely off the large square in town, the zur Linde offers a small outdoor (in good weather) area to eat and drink and a typical Swiss and Appenzell interior. Every Wednesday in the evening around 7 or so, a group of local folks come in and socialize and sing older Appenzeller songs all a capella. Their voices are strong and sweet and it is a wonderful way to get a sense of the area and its hard-working people. The food is, by the way, some of the best Swiss fare you will find anywhere. Chicken with morels? Kalbsbratwurst with rosti? Spaetzli? Send me in, coach!

We ate here two nights out of a three night stay, that is how good it is. Good prices compared to other restaurants/hotels. The Rosti with Bratwurst is excellent. The owner is a lovely lady who speaks many languages.

A very typical place for the locals. Outstanding food and service. They went out of their way to please us even during the very busy World Cup days and the gymnastics festival.

Our family took us there and it was a great choice, the food was lovely not overpriced and the service was very good .A great place for lunch on a sunny day
