Lobby Lounge - Shangri-La Hotel Sydney

I am providing my feedback on my recent Christmas Eve dinner with my partner last Saturday. We had drinks at the bar and Trust-the-Chef dinner at Blu Bar on 36. 1. Service The staff are lovely and attentive most of the time. I understand that it could get busy at time due to the holidays but everything felt so transactional and lacking human touch given that it is the festive season. I have confirmed my booking online and uploaded a photo of me and my partner as (according to the online booking confirmation message) we would be welcomed. Went there on a Monday afternoon, seats and view were cool. Asked for 2x simple soda waters which I saw them pumping from the tap (fine with me, I don’t need it too fancy! which they charged me $15 for?! Will be disputing with the hotel, as I feel like they have charged me incorrectly. Could understand if it was a bottle of fancy sparkling water that they charged for but straight from tap, at most, costs $3.50 each. So disappointing!

As visitors from the UK, we were thrilled with the view from the Blu Bar. We enjoyed a couple of drinks (not overly expensive)and took in the wonderful view. The service was excellent. We didn’t eat or look closely at the decor- the view was what we came for. Can’t wait until we come back again.

Upon booking we were forced to get a set menu that was terrible for $85 per person (rip-off) yet to be told after eating we could have ordered off the menu. I’m sure the wait staff plated leftovers. The atmosphere old and outdated and in desperate need of renovation. Will not return.

Staying in the hotel for two nights so thought we’d visit bar. Cocktails were over priced and nothing special. Staff appeared under pressure and lacked training on what constitutes good customer service. Sorry won’t be recommending on this occasion .
