Lohninger Restaurant

The food was tasty, but expensive although this was expected in Frankfurt (we live here permanently). We ordered the 6 course taster menu, 115 Euro each plus drinks which came to 340 Euro in total for 2 people. Although we enjoyed the food, the target audience restaurant for this restaurant catered more towards the older side (if you weren’t a silver fox, you‘re weren’t getting any service). As my partner and I were on the younger side (early 30s albeit not too young), it seemed to us that we weren‘t being offered normal services including aperitif, wine or coffee which we would have to ask for (at such a price, we would have expected this to be offered to us at the right times). Excellent dishes, strong flavours and interesting combinations. We had a date night dinner on a busy Friday night. Restaurant was bustling but not overwhelmingly loud. Service was decent and friendly enough. The menu had good options with new world cuisine bringing unique flavour combinations such as kingfish with buttermilk and shaved foie gras. Lobster main combination was also lovely although lobster and foie gras was a tad undercooked. Overall, you will get a beautiful meal here. Service will be fine and generally attentive, although not overly effusive. This is certainly one of the more expensive places in Frankfurt, but the food and wine options are well worth it.

The way they treat guests absolutely embarrassing, rude!!. You are making reservation one week in advance !! for sure not the last minute last empty spot.. want to have nice evening... and when you come you are assessed on what amount you can spend... !Starting from not even be given menu, then In THE MIDDLE of your dinner forced to change the place and go to absolutely empty inside area to keep terrace for guests that potentially can make bigger bill. Guys this is completely NOT ok. Ruined impression completely. NO GO. Never come back

We received this recommendation from our concierge from our hotel as we where looking for a good German restaurant in Frankfurt. This place did not disappoint, in fact i would say this restaurant was the best one i have tried in the 4-5 years that i have traveled to this city for business. A little more expensive than i would have have liked but overall a fantastic culinary evening eating German/Austrian food. I had the veal Schnitzel and my wife had the beef goulash and it came with a side/plate of splaetzle.

Lohninger hast excellent food, by the Austrian Cook Mario Lohninger. I went there for Business Lunch and everyrhing was very well. Big recommendation.
