During our 2 weeks stay in the Provence in a village next to Baumes, we have been at Lou Castelet 3 times (that says already something...). It's not haute cuisine, but decent bistro food for a good price on a nice location. Service was good and food served quickly which is what we need with 2 young kids. The children's menu is just below 10 euro: their 'crispy pollack' is very tasty (I'd say it's home made as it doesn't taste or look like any commercial fish stick), anyway our kids loved it and had it 3 times, followed by a scoop of ice cream as dessert. For the adults, you can eat a la carte or there are 2 menu options either you go for 3 courses or 2 courses (starter + main or main + desse...

We were a group of 8 who were surprised at the difficulty finding evening menus other than pizza at a reasonable price. We managed to stumble across this restaurant.Whilst main menu is not cheap, they offer a 3 course set menu for 23 euros, or 2 course for less. We had the 3 course option.1st course - choice of all Salads on menu. These were HUGE & worthy of being a main in their own right. Supplied with Bread. I had Chicken Ceaser salad. Others had tuna, or selection of meats in Salad. 2nd Course. Choice of approx 8 wide ranging options. All we had were good.3rd course. Full choice of dessert menu. ( I believe excluding crepes / ice cream sundaes) Generally we had Tiramisu or Creme Brulee w...

If you are looking for food that is "correct," that is, well-prepared and properly-served, an ambiance that is friendly and casual, and servers who are friendly, this is the place to go. This place is unpretentious, but everything they serve is delicious. Everyone in my picky, hard-to-please family found something they wanted to eat on the menu, and everyone was pleased with their choices when they arrived (we ate here three times over the course of a two week stay). Especially good are the moules frites, which are served on Friday evenings. Salmon carpaccio, salmon tartare, steak frites, omelettes, salads: my family and I also tried all of these and loved them. There are plenty of restauran...

Have never written a poor review before - but this cafe deserves one!! We stopped on a hot day and asked for an 'orange presse' with ice. We have been enjoying these all through our 2 months in Provence - refreshing, cold, quite large and until today costing from 1.3 euros to 3.5 euros. Naively we did not ask the price - we were astonished to be presented with two half full glasses of watered down juice - costing 5.90 euros each!! We were very unhappy and spoke to a staff member who simply shrugged - couldnt have cared less!! Be warned - this cafe is poor value and overpriced!!! Avoid at all costs!!!
