Pad Thai is of poor quality. The noodles are wet and sticks together. We asked for fish sauce, a South East Asian flavoring foundation. Especially Thai food. They did not have fish sauce. That explain why pad Thai is of poor quality. The teriyaki chicken was horrible. It's basically brown sugar water and chicken. There are cheap and good tray made teriyaki sauce all over. If they would just buy some of those sauce and use it, the dish would taste do much better. We are Asian and don't really expect much when we go to remote area to eat Asian food. It's on a corner on the main drag, which is very busy. Parking behind and on the side street, but easy to miss the corner. Exterior is uninspired, interior slightly better: one bright room with six rustic tables and a counter with stools, and a darker back room with TV and four comfortable booths. Seats 60 total. Waitress friendly but not very fast (six other diners when we arrived for lunch;) if it were full I suspect you'd have a wait. BIG menu, heavy on Japanese food. The restaurant was packed on a Thursday evening with lots of regulars enjoying their meals . Specializing in sushi with plates going out every few seconds it would seem .The decor is a bit jaded but the staff and food is certainly not .Our appetizer of chicken satay for $6 50 was so good we each had two satay's each to dip in the wonderful peanut sauce , We both ordered the yellow chicken curry ,It had just the right spice content for me .My husband asked for hot sauce on the side just in case .Our entrees were huge ,delicious and filled with tender chicken and loads of veggies. Enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. Monday's are always quiet so that was okay. Sat at our favourite table by the fireplace. My hubby ordered the panko breaded fish and chips which he always enjoys. I was really wanting sushi so I had the Island Roll Maki with a Spicy Tuna Temaki and a Spicy Scallop Temaki. It was fantastic. Really enjoyed our dinner. Mai Mai's first off made you feel welcomed. The staff were on top of their game and attention to detail was my experience. Food was well prepared (went for traditional fish and chips) and had all the fixings. The owner was on hand and took time to say hi accompanied with some fun banter. The atmosphere is great and has a character all its own. Will certainly ensure a return visit with friends . . .

The menu is unique with lots of variety mostly fusion and sushi and tempura. The fish and chips are good and right now the pulled pork on the menu is absolutely delicious. We have dined here several times and new items have been added to the menu. The pad thai is also very good. There is also a mushroom dish that I used to order all the time but lately I've tried other dishes.

Sushi and Asian fusion. Consistently good and interesting. Friendly service. Creative dishes. Pad Thai to fish and chips. Good deal on Lunch specials. If you can't find something you like on this menu you weren't hungry.

Don't be put off by the building. Sushi in here was very good, created by a playful chef, bringing together western and Asian flavours. Servers could not do enough for us. Thank you, what a delight to find in Sooke. Reserve uma mesa agora

Don't let the building put you off. The food is very good, the server we had was very friendly and helpful. Good stuff. Go there.
