Many years ago, my husband and his friends met a really lovely couple on the beach in Vale do Lobo. The couple were cooking freshly caught fish over an open fire and invited them to stay and join them. They asked them to come back the next night and gradually they got to know Maria and her husband. They were just starting out on their restaurant building voyage and every year the simple fire on the beach grew to something a bit more elaborate but they were always welcomed with open arms. We visited Maria’s on a Sunday afternoon and the place was absolutely packed although we managed to get a table inside instead of outside which we had booked. I need to separate the food from the venue to be honest, I ordered Piri piri Chicken which was just Ok, it was chicken legs with not a lot of meat and very basic fries, I wasn’t overly impressed, my wife ordered a a fish fillet which she said was excellent, but it should have been for 34€. Very disappointed by the food and service. Grumpy waitresses who put us on an outside table with no shade despite booking and there being other shaded tables. Goats cheese starter was not melted and came with a wilted bit of salad. Clams were cold and floating in tasteless broth. Grilled prawns (30-something euros for 3) were over cooked and dry. Tomato salad never appeared on our table but was in the bill. House wine double the cost of pretty much everywhere in the Algarve. This restaurant relies on its beachside location. 120 euros (for 2) badly spent.

Location to die for… Food to die for… Staff are smiling, happy and helpful. Everything about Maria’s is just wonderful. No trip to Quinta can be complete without lunch or dinner at Maria’s. Sunday evening live music, dancing and general frivolity, singing and fun. Bring a healthy credit card! Reserve uma mesa agora

Ambiente fantástico à beira da praia e atmosfera animada. Não é barato, mas o atum selado que eu pedi estava perfeito. Muito movimentado e não tínhamos reserva, mas a garçonete fez o possível para acomodar e a comida chegou rapidamente. Recomendado.

Estes restaurantes de praia oferecem o fantástico pôr do sol que você pode desfrutar na costa! um extenso menu com uma boa seleção de vestir o que eles são servidos é bom e eles certamente vai desfrutar deles belos momentos!

A comida estava incrível, o melhor hambúrguer que já comi. A atmosfera era fantástica. A equipe muito simpática, com certeza irei voltar. E a banda também estava fantástica.

Lovely location however that is the only thing to recommend. Miserable staff, very average food. Not what it was.
