Maru Korean Bistro

We did not expect to eat Korean food outside Coquitlam. Maru Korean Bistro is a huge surprise for us.<br/ <br/ We ordered a lettuce wrap with short ribs which comes with a stone bowl of tofu soup, a bowl of rice, and some Korean side dishes. The food was delicious with a generous portion. We also ordered a Korean cold buckwheat noodle with pork (Mul Naengmyun) from the lunch special menu. We can't believe it when the dishes arrive. My partner and I have been coming from the beginning 'soft opening ' about 2 years ago*? We can always count on INCREDIBLE food. The flavours, presentation, and price points are spot on. My favourite dishes are the Yukgaejang (Spicy beef soup) , their Korean Fried Chicken (with spicy sauce) and all the lettuce wraps are all delicious with generous portions. Also the side dishes! yum. Their new menu is awesome and has information on some popular dishes which makes this place perfect for someone new to Korean cuisine. I really think there is something for every taste here. I had a korean fried chicken and rice roll happy hour skewer, and the chicken was perfectly sauced and crispy. For my main I had a bibimbap and it was okay, with great side dishes. After snowshoeing around, we were starved and ready for a late lunch. We’ve heard that there are a couple quality Korean places in North Van so decided to try out Maru Korean Bistro. Signs inside and out. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:45pm). Didn’t realize the restaurant was so massive. We were seated in the front which had great lighting, cute plants and reminded me of being in a greenhouse.

We tried Maru for the first time last night and the food was amazing! Everything tasted unique and so flavourful. Anyone on the North Shore, you have to try this place, also well worth the trip from Vancouver (it's a quick walk from the Seabus).

En route back to Vancouver, we stumbled across this Korean food restaurant with a modern twist. The pork belly stone bowl rice is delicious and well marinated. The fried udon had almost more bulgogi beef than noodle! Yum!

Delicious and innovative. The service is quick and the restaurant is clean. I have enjoyed every meal.
