Mel’s Downtown Creamery

Mel’s downtown creamery has so many options it is difficult to decide! we visited with 4 small children who like every egg taste. I prefer the milk free egg with a gluten-free cone. I would like to have more taste options than vanilla or chocolate, but I understand the offer of special items can increase overhead. I appreciate it if they have an option! the bathrooms were made by a strangely designed flur and quite cold, but glad to have a bathroom for washing sticky hands. the place was empty when we visited and the children got nothing to play. we would try sundaes next time!

I’m giving this place two stars because the milkshake was good. However, I don’t understand how they can advertise a small milkshake for $5.95 but then charge an additional $1.90 for the flavor. Our total for two small peanut butter shakes came to just under $15.00, which I think is quite pricey. Ultimately, that seems a bit expensive to me.

This place is very convenient for the center of Colchester. The ice cream is fantastic, but the portions could be improved; for example, the medium-sized cup is barely filled. Additionally, the portion sizes seem to vary depending on who is serving. Overall, I can say the ice cream tastes great!

The ice selection was beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. We tried the flight, and it was a great experience!
