Meson De Irene - Reservar uma mesa

Meson Irene used to be one of our favourite restaurants, which we'd visit every week whilst we were in Spain. However, during our last visit, the menus (and pricing) had undergone significant changes. Previously, wine was included on all set menus, (which were amazing value for money), and there was a wide choice available. Now the prices have increased significantly, but the quality just isn't there any longer. During this visit, my starter was inedible, the main course merely acceptable. I was so disappointed, I didn't want any dessert. The waiting staff are still lovely, and very helpful. this surprising restaurant is located in an industrial area directly outside the city. satnav had no problem getting us there. at midday we arrived at 1245 and found the space empty. at 1 o'clock it was full of groups of men from surrounding factories with a few tables of native both Spanish and foreign. menu del dia is 10 euro drink, salad, brot, 2 courses, dessert. separate vegetarian menu in English. a beautiful lady spoke perfectly English and knew exactly what vegan meant and showed many dishes I could have. except dessert, which was fruit salad or melone or pineapple. to do a lot to get there early and get her order. basic filling eat amazed and happy to find this place. The menu del Noche that everyone has loved for years has now been changed.It was 14/16euros for drink,salad,starter,main,postre,coffee.Now each course is priced seperately and it's far from reasonable.A drink or coffee is not included anymore.We worked out that with what we usually had it would cost more than double.We certainly won't be going back. On the other hand,they do a lunchtime trade for the industrial and transport workers of 11euros for a menu del dia.There is no change. When I asked why the hike in price I was told that everything had gone up in price i.e. food and transport costs....but not at lunchtime??

Service and food excellent great choices so glad we booked a table as it was a full restaurant as it was fathers day in Spain The table salad was so fresh , all of us had different first course everyone was lovey we all went for the lamb for mains it fell of the bone and was so succulent and tasty as for dessert fabulous choice really spoilt nobody was disappointed

Fantastic food, massive portions, great value for money friendly staff that speak great English better than my Spanish.
