When I was married to the Puerto Rica family, I was always interested in eating. I never tried anything except the pastels, and thought it was time to finally try a mofongo! Mofongos is a sweet little business a few blocks away from NoHo Arts District. The interior is filled with funny Puerto Rican decorations and cool tables that make various things from Puerto Rico. The place is small and the food is something on the salty side. Anyway, it's delicious. The waitress is new and tries to serve her best. But the waiter seemed more careless and rare. We sat with a table in the back. Not only fork and spoons were missing, the water was never filled. He only showed up once when food was delivered. We had to get our own pepper and salt. I'm a big fan of this place. They are the only restaurant on aeroplane trips that offer authentic Caribbean cuisine at reasonable prices. All Guisado is a must. Mofongo is a must. The drink, Morir Soñando, is a must. Staying full is usually an obligation, but not a choir. I warmly recommend the original Mofongo with each of their meat choices. You really can't go wrong. The rice and the beans are really on the point, every time. This trip marked the first time I tried her bacalaíto and I was not disappointed. The Mofongo Restaurant is my personal jewel in LA.
