Mrs Riches Dinner Club Cafe

We visited this restaurant because the local paper proclaimed it to have the best burgers in Nanaimo. I am a sucker for a great hamburger so we tried it out.The staff was wonderful. Friendly, attentive, helpful.The decor is dated, faded and dusty. Way overdue for an upgrade, or at least a good cleaning.The burgers we're terribly disappointing. Bun and toppings were good, but the meat was clearly not fresh. If a burger does not have fresh, hand smashed meat, I'm not interested. The fries were also frozen. Frankly, the Angus burger from McDonald's is tastier. If this is the best burger in the city, then this city does not know what a great burger really is, which is tragic.

We have been to this restaurant many times but the last time we visited my daughter mentioned her burger was off and she only ate half. About 2 hours later she was at home vomitting and was up until 3 am causing her to miss school. A phone call and 2 emails to Mrs. Ritchies went unanswered which is difficult to accept. I can accept that sometimes food isnt erfect what I cannot accept is the lack of communication from management.

Decided at the last moment to go out someplace new for an early dinner...found the restaurant easily, parking was good, found it an older house converted to a restaurant....service was very good, and the food was divine ! Kind of a down-home feel, with 5-star food. Enjoyed every bite .

Its nice to be served by someone nowadays that genuinely takes passion in their job! Thank you for taking such wonderful care of us after a long bath tub weekend.

Prices have escalated, portions smaller and lowered quality of food served. A fan for decades will not be hurrying back.
