Osteria Orto - Reservar uma mesa

It was one of those girl's day, so I looked up the Italian restaurants near Westlake Village, and ventured here for lunch. It was difficult to find, as it is nestled away tucked into an archway that revealed a garden (hence, orto). I was struck by the country style elegance and the warm welcome from the staff. Our waiter was very attentive and made us feel at home. He brought us a bread basket that was irresistible. My friend ordered the lunch size fritto misto and I had the Capelletti with truffles. We enjoy the food here and the servers. We've never had a bad meal and are usually very pleased with the staff and service here. In the summer we enjoy the music and outdoor ambiance of the courtyard. So why 3 stars? Because on our recent visit you allowed a dog a small non service dog the customer initially carried in hidden in his jacket, to be in the restaurant violating all health code regulations. You knew better, you know better. That dog did not belong inside a restaurant it ruined what was otherwise a pleasant evening at your restaurant.

This is a local place that is trying to make a name for itself. Sorry to say they are calling miserably. Service is second class and the cuisine is not far behind. Save your hard earned money and take the short drive to Casa Nostra for a real meal.
