Coulommiers is a busy city of around 15,000 inhabitants in the heart of the Brie region east of Paris. It's also the name of a cheese, a smaller version of a Brie. Unfortunately, "Coulommiers" is a generic name, so they can be produced anywhere in France: there are only 45 cheeses in France that are categorized as Appelation d'Origine Protegée, and Coulommiers isn't one of them. That said, the best ones are made locally.My walking companion and I had returned to Coulommiers after a ten-kilometer walk along the Grand Morin River and on the Briard Plateau. If we hadn't read previous reviews we would probably have walked past this one. Inside the restaurant has character and the staff are very pleasant. The waitress kindly helped us with descriptions of the food and made good recommendations. The whole evening was very successful.
